SOLD - French Restauration, 1830s, Pewter Two-Part Lavabo Mounted on Walnut Stand

A French pewter two-part lavabo mounted on a walnut stand from the first half of the 19th century. Born at the point of transition between the Restauration period and the Louis-Philippe reign, this exquisite French 'fontaine' features a walnut body supporting the pewter parts. The upper section, delicately carved with a delicate molding is the backdrop that receives the reservoir while the lower shelf supports the pewter bowl. The ensemble is raised on four cabriole legs connected to one another through a delicately scalloped skirt. With its tall proportions and perfectly contrasting colors, this French two-part pewter and walnut lavabo on stand, circa 1830, will bring a touch of elegance to any room.
